Wireless setup of Exchange ActiveSync: Windows Mobile 6.0 Professional

 

 

Pre-requisites for wireless setup

You will need the following items to get started:

 

-          Thoughtbus mailbox

-          Active Internet connection to Pocket PC

 

 

Wireless ActiveSync setup

  1. Ensure that your wireless device is in an area with good data network reception.
  2. Click “Start” and choose “Messaging”.

  1. From within the Messaging application, tap the “New E-mail Account” box.

  1. In the next screen, enter your full primary email address, and ensure that the “Try to get settings automatically…” box is unchecked.

  1. For e-mail provider, click the drop-down box and choose “Exchange server” and tap “Next”.

  1. Tap “Next” again in the following screen.

  1. For “Server address”, enter mail.thoughtbus.com.  The SSL box can be either checked or unchecked – either should work, although we recommend keeping it checked.

  1. In the next screen, enter your UPN Login.  This is the same login ID that you use to log into Outlook.  As soon as you enter the “@” sign, the “Domain” field automatically greys out (or in this case, light-blues out).  Tap “Next”.

  1. In the final screen, you can choose which of your folders you wish to wirelessly synchronize.  Unchecking any of these boxes will cause the respective item to not be synchronized.

  1. Click “Finish”, and you’ll be taken to your Messaging Inbox, where a synchronization will automatically start if everything has been configured correctly.
