Setting up Microsoft Entourage 2004 for use with Thoughtbus

 

Introduction

Entourage 2004 provides a high-powered personal information management environment for the Macintosh OS X environment. These instructions show you how to setup Entourage 2004 to connect to your Thoughtbus mailbox.  With Entourage 2004 linked to Thoughtbus, you’ll have access to your Thoughtbus e-mail and your organization’s Global Address List. In addition, your Entourage Address Book will be synchronized with your Thoughtbus Contacts, and your Entourage Calendar will be synchronized with your Thoughtbus Calendar.  Also, when you invite other Thoughtbus users in your organization to meetings, you can view their ‘free/busy’ information.

 

In addition, you’ll have read/write access to Thoughtbus Public Folders from Entourage 2004. Note that you will only be able to see and use Public Folders that store ‘mail items’, contacts, and calendars – not those that store notes or tasks. For full access to Thoughtbus Public Folders, logon using Outlook Web Access at -- please note this is only available on Exchange 2003, not Exchange 2007.https://mail.Thoughtbus.com/Public.

 

Setting up Entourage 2004

  1. Start Entourage 2004.
  2. Select the ‘Entourage / About Entourage’ menu option to determine the version of Entourage 2004 you are running. For best results, please verify you were using the latest version – currently 11.4.2. If you are running any version of Entourage 2004 prior to 11.3.5, you’ll need to first install Office 2004 for Mac 11.3.5 Update and then the 11.4.2 Update. The 11.3.5 Update download page can be found here – and the 11.4.2 Update download page download page can be found here .   3. Select ‘Accounts’ from Entourage’s ‘Tools’ menu:

    This brings up the ‘Accounts’ window. Press the ‘Exchange’ button, then press ‘New’:

  2. This displays the ‘Account Setup Assistant’ window. Here, you’ll enter your primary email address in the ‘E-mail address’ field, and your "NT4" Thoughtbus username in the ‘User ID’ field, then enter ‘ENOMIA’ as the ‘Domain’, and finally enter your Thoughtbus password:

  1. Once you’ve entered your information, press the ‘Configure account manually’ button.  This will display the ‘Edit Account’ window.  The information you already entered will be displayed, and several additional fields display:

 

  1. The ‘Account name’ field is used by Entourage when it displays the Thoughtbus mailbox in the Folders pane. The ‘Exchange server’ field should can specified as ‘mail.thoughtbus.com’ if your NT4 login name is the same as the left-most portion of your primary email address, but specifying https://mail.thoughtbus.com/exchange/<your primary email address> will ensure that your connection will work. 
  2. Once you’ve entered the information in this window, press the ‘Advanced’ button. The following window appears:

  1. Here, you'll enter 'mail.thoughtbus.com/public/ as your 'Public folders server' but enter ‘imail.thoughtbus.com’, for the ‘LDAP server’.  Ensure that the "This server requires me to log on" checkbox is checked.
  2. Press the ‘OK’ button in the above dialogue window. Your main Entourage window will now look like this (assuming you have no other accounts setup):

  1. Click on the arrow to the left of your Thoughtbus account in the ‘Folders’ pane. You should then see the following list in the main Entourage window:

  1. Congratulations! Your Thoughtbus account is now fully set up in Entourage 2004 and is ready to use.
