Perform a “Security Wipe” of your handheld
Performing a “Security Wipe” of a Blackberry device is another step that – if
ignored – can cause Enterprise Activation to fail. There are numerous
device settings and third-party pieces of software that can interfere with the
activation process, and for that reason, Research In
Motion recommends that Blackberry handhelds be wiped prior to all activations –
even if the device is fresh out of the box.
The procedure to wipe your device varies slightly between versions of the device software, so we have provided separate instructions for each of the recent revisions. Clicking the following links will bring you to the appropriate documents:
(NOTE: If you don’t know which revision of the software your device is running and you have a brand-new device, the “Revision 4.2.x” link should be fine. Otherwise, check the remaining links and just choose the instructions with the screens that look most like yours.)
